Theme:Supply Chain Management – A Customers Leap of Faith?

Every customer makes a “Leap of Faith”, when they place an order with a company. “Look before you Leap” is a cautionary action taken by most consumers. It is supply chain managements job to satisfy a customer by delivering in a timely manner and in a timely fashion. Every company just like Benjamin Franklin knows that “Time is Money”, -when dealing with customer service.  It is the essence of SCM to balance the requirements of the company with the needs of the customer in order to “Leap over the Hurdles”.  We want to keep the customer – and keep them coming back for more!   

                        

Keynote Speaker:  Dr. C. John Langley, from Penn State University. He is known for his annual Third-Party Logistics Study. 3PL’s are one of the big reasons now that customers choose to take a ”leap of faith”. Dr. Langley is a Clinical professor, Supply Chain Information Systems and Director of Development, Center for Supply Chain Research® at Smeal College of Business at The Pennsylvania State University. He has also worked as SCL Professor of Supply Chain Management at Georgia Tech Supply Chain & Logistics Institute and was the Dove Distinguished Professor of Logistics and Supply Chain Management at the University of Tennessee. In addition he is an entrepreneur being the owner of a professional Ice hockey team called the Knoxville Ice Bears located in Knoxville, TN.
